How to take Amias

Only ever take your medicine as directed to by your prescribing nurse or doctor. If you’re unsure about how to take Amias, double-check with your GP or pharmacist to make sure.

Amias tablets should be taken every day, at about the same time (e.g. just before you go to bed). Swallow your Amias tablet with a glass of water. You can take Amias with or without food, it will make no difference.

Effectiveness

  • In tests, at a dose of 8mg, most users found their blood pressure was brought back to healthy levels within 4 weeks. Other users needed an increase in dose to 16mg or 32mg to achieve this
  • Studies have shown that 81% of patients taking Candesartan for high blood pressure see a strong, positive clinical effect

Dosage

Amias tablets come in four different dosages:

  • 4mg
  • 8mg
  • 16mg
  • 32mg

Each Amias tablet can be divided in half into two equal doses.

The usual recommended dose of Amias for the treatment of high blood pressure is one 8mg tablet per day. Your doctor may adjust (increase or decrease) this dose according to how your blood pressure responds to the treatment.

Common side effects

The most common side effects of Amias (affecting up to 1 in 10 users) include:

  • feeling faint or dizzy
  • headache
  • cough
  • low blood pressure
  • respiratory infection
  • changes to your kidney function (especially if you already have kidney problems or heart failure)
