Prescription & Instructions for Cialis

Dr. Sebastian Winckler

DrEd Medical Director

Cialis is a licensed medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). It has proven to be up to 78% effective in clinic trials, and in most cases it starts working within an hour of ingestion.

It is favoured over Viagra for its longevity (it will work up to 36 hours post ingestion, compared to just 4 for Viagra) and its decreased number of side effects. The most common side effects with Cialis include facial flushing, headache and indigestion.

If you suffer from ED our team of in-house doctors can prescribe you Cialis and deliver it to you, at your preferred address.

DrEd, what should I know about cialis?

What is cialis? - Erectile dysfunction treatment

Tadalafil, known under the brand name Cialis is a medical treatment for men suffering erection problems.

It works by blocking PDE5, the chemical that reverses an erection. When this chemical is blocked, the arteries in the penis are able to open wider allowing more blood to flow into the penis.

Cialis can start working in as little as 30 minutes, to 36 hours post ingestion. Because it has no effect on the chemicals that cause an erection (other than keeping them in the penis for longer), it does not work without stimulation.

Cialis dosage (20mg max)

For most people with erectile dysfunction the recommended starting dose of Cialis is 10mg, taken one hour prior to sexual activity. However you may take the medication anywhere from 1 hour to 36 hours prior to sexual activity. The maximum recommended dose is 20mg.

Cialis can be taken on a daily basis if desired (whether you plan on having sexual activity or not). In this case a 2.5mg dose is taken once a day, at the same time each day. If this doesn't seem to be enough, dosage can be increased to 5mg per day after discussing it with your healthcare provider.

The dosage your healthcare provider recommends will depend on any other medical conditions you may have, amongst other things so for Cialis to work properly, you should only take it as prescribed.

If the information we provide here on how to take Cialis is not enough, you should always talk about it with your doctor. The dosage of Cialis prescribed will be specific to your current health situation.

Cialis - overdose

If you think that you or someone you know has taken an overdose of Cialis, you must seek medical help straightaway.

An overdose of Cialis can cause great damage to your body. You should always try to bring along the product packaging to help your doctor.

How effective is Cialis?

Specific studies have found that efficacy of Cialis generally depends on the dosage taken.

- 57% of men reported improvements with Cialis 5mg.
- 77% of men reported improvements with Cialis 10mg.
- 85% of men reported improvements with Cialis 20mg.

In 33 to 75% of all cases erections lasted long enough for successful intercourse.

Precautions - The following people should not take cialis

Anyone with the following conditions should avoid taking Cialis (unless their doctor says it is OK):

- A recent history of congestive heart failure or stroke.

- Sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia or other blood disorders.

- Hemophilia

- Liver or kidney disease

- Stomach ulcers

- Retinitis pigmentosa

- Peyronie's disease or some other structural deformity of the penis.

- Heart disease

- Angina or blood pressure problems

- Anyone who has been advised against sexual intercourse for health reasons.

Cialis side effects

The most common Cialis side effects are:

- headache;
- indigestion;
- back pain;
- muscle ache;
- nasal congestion;
- flushing;
- pain in limbs

These side effects usually subside within a few hours. Back pain and muscle pain usually occurs around 12 to 24 hours after taking Cialis, and this will most likely go away within 2 days.

If you find any side effects particularly uncomfortable or persistent, contact your healthcare provider.

In some users, less common, but more serious side-effects may occur.

- Priapism (an erection that won't go away)
. If your erection lasts 4 hours or more you need to get medical help at once. Extended erections can cause lasting damage the penis - including the inability to have erections in the future.

- A decrease or loss of vision. If this happens, in either one or both eyes, you must get medical help at once. Cialis can sometimes indermine the blood flow to the optic nerve of the eye, causing sudden loss of vision. This is rare but more likely to occur in patients with:

- hypertension
- diabetes
- high cholesterol
- heart disease
- pre-existing eye problems.

- A decease or loss in hearing. This may be accompanied by ringing in the ears and dizziness. The explanation for this side effect is not fully known, but if you do experience it, stop taking Cialis and contact your doctor at once.

Cialis: Drug- drug interactions

Cialis should not be used together with nitrate medication as it can lead to a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure (hypotension).

Don't take Cialis if you are using any of the following medication:

- Nitro Dur
- Nitrolingual
- Nitrostat
- Transderm Nitro
- Isosorbide dinitrate
- Isosorbide mononitrate
- Amyl nitrate (poppers)

This list is not exhaustive, check with your doctor to make sure you are suitable before taking Cialis.
